Picture was from our summer vacation.
Here's another update:
Ricky: his flag football team won another game this Saturday. They are 6 and 0. He has played in five of the six games and scored several touchdowns. He is having a lot of fun this season. Outside of football he is doing good, especially in school. I Can't complain too much, however, the teenager in him has begun to rear its ugly head. Here's the way I am looking at it; God made babies cute so they would live to be toddlers, He made toddlers funny so they would live to be pre-teens, he made pre-teens smart enough to communicate and gave them a desire to please so they would live to be teenagers, and he made teenagers icky enough so parents wouldn't fall to pieces when they leave the nest. I am trying to welcome the hormornal outbursts or what my Mom might call 'paybacks' but it's not always easy. And, it's only the beginning.
Kerri: she starts horseback riding lessons soon and can't wait. This is her second session and she is very excited. In between sessions she took a class on pet first aid and received a two year certification. She LOVES animals. She has been so responsible lately that I took her to pets mart this weekend and she got a beta fish for her room. His name is Bluey.
Matthew: He is doing great. Much to our surprise his teachers at preschool tell us he is such a delight and he is also very much a leader. We were surprised because if you ask him how school went he always says it was OK and he doesn't care if he goes or not. I think it is good for him since he will be starting Kindergarten in July of 07. And, while Ricky still kisses me good-bye everyday no matter where we are, Matthew makes me kiss him in the parking lot. I am not sure why he won't kiss me in front of his class but I have accepted it! As for his other talents, he has become a champ at riding a two-wheeled bicycle. He began about three weeks ago and has already moved up to a bigger bike (luckily we have a few hand me downs).
Jason: Jason Jason Jason, well he is doing just fine. I just wish I could keep clothes on the boy. Every time I put him down for the night or for a nap he takes off all his clothes and his diaper. While it was cute the first or second time it is now getting old. The problem is I haven't caught him in the act. He now has to wear onsies (shirts that snap between the legs) all the time. He can still get the diaper off but it is harder and if he gets stuck he has to call for me and then he realizes he is in trouble. I sure hope this is just a phase. At first I thought he was showing signs of wanting to potty train but that only led to lots of pee on the floor. Good thing we have a lot of tile!
Rick: Still working, still teaching, and from what we can tell he is alive. The lawn was mowed this weekend and we have some new hibiscus planted. So, we gather he is doing well.
As for me: I am preparing to run in the iron girl marathon with Kerri. We are calling ourselves the "Chandler Cheetah Girls." I hope if it goes well and my knees handle it I will go on to participate in the Rock 'n Roll 1/2 marathon in January. We'll see. I was going to put Jason in preschool with Matt for 5 hours two days a week but just couldn't bring myself to do it. A good friend reminded me how short and important our time is with the kids and I decided the timing just is not right for Jason or for myself. Plus, I am not sure I'd know what to do with myself for five hours.
