Ricky's Report

The following slides are from the PowerPoint presentation Ricky did for his class. Both the students and teachers had to grade him on it and he got an A+ from both groups. He also brought in some props like a boomerang, a bootlace bracelet, an empty bottle of L & P, money from both NZ and Australia, brochures and over 100 photo's.

A Story by Kerri

Kerri wrote the following story in her 3rd grade class. She got an A+ for her work. I thought it was wonderful and wanted to share it with you. Ricky and I will be posting more info and pictures from our trip soon.

I am a gorgeous light yellow rose living in a beautiful meadow in California. Other beautiful flowers live there too. My best friends are Kyleen, Mikayala and Catherine. Mikayala and Kyleen are pink roses and Catherine is a Hawaiian flower. I think they are the most fantastic flowers in the meadow.
Everyday we duck behind the other flowers because people try to pick us. They step on other flowers to get to us, so we are as careful as possible. When they leave it usually gets windy. When it gets windy we gracefully go side to side. Sometimes we hit each other.
At night we look up to the sky. We try to count the stars but we lose track. When we get exhausted we go to sleep. When we wake up if we look real close we see deer gazing right at us. The most beautiful thing I see is the world around me. The End.

G' Day Mate

Greetings from Sydney. Got in Last night with little problem. We did have to throw away a pair of Ricky's socks because Australia considered them a bio hazard. No joke! We have covered a lot of ground in our short time here. We got a city pass and took a train into the city center, there we got on a ferry which took us to Darling Harbor (great views of the harbor and bridge). From there we went to the Sydney Wildlife World, and the Sydney Aquarium. We then ate seaside at an outdoor BBQ restaurant. After our lunch we took the monorail to Chinatown where we did some shopping at Paddy's Market. From there we found an Internet store where we could check our mail and update the blog. The weather is not what we would have asked for however it is cooperating enough for us to get around. It has been raining on and off and it's in the high 60's. When we are finished here we plan to take the light rail back to the monorail, back to the train, and back to the hotel. We need the rest!

UPDATE ON OUR JOURNEY: TODAY WE DROVE THE COAST FROM CHRISTCHURCH TO KAIKOURA AND THEN UP TO PICTON WHERE WE ARE STAYING AT A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY PARK (MOTEL). THE COAST LINE WAS UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS. LEAVING CHRISTCHURCH WE PASSED THROUGH WINE COUNTRY BEFORE HITTING THE COAST. IT REMINDED ME OF NAPA. ALONG THE COAST WE SAW A SCHOOL OF DOLPHINS PLAYING AND THEN STOPPED TO PHOTOGRAPH SOME NZ FUR SEALS LAYING ON THE ROCKS ASIDE THE ROAD. RICKY CLIMBED DOWN AND GOT NO MORE THAN 10 FEET FROM ONE TO TAKE SOME PHOTOS. IT WAS WONDERFUL. TOMORROW WE ARE OFF INTO THE HILLS OF THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND. I WILL DO MY BEST TO CALL HOME.
