a little bragging...

Grades are out. Kerr and Matt got straight A's and are on the principals list. Ricky got all A's and one B. Ricky's football and Kerri's soccer team both won their games this past weekend. Matt is signing up for soccer this winter. We can't wait to watch him play! Way to go kids!

life lessons

...in the amount of time it takes an adult to take a shower a two year old can redecorate an entire family room using only products made by Kotex.

...a two year old can cut hair, just not very well.

...a five year old expects everything to be fair.

...a nine year old expects everything to be fair but only when it benefits them.

...a twelve year old likes expensive toys they can learn to master quickly by looking up cheat codes on the Internet and once mastered they decide the toy is no longer fun and want a new one.

...four kids can survive a camping trip with no electronic devices.

Youth and Music

While I sat at the computer this morning and payed bills I pulled up a local radio station and put on some music. A poor attempt to diffuse the pain of watching our money get 'clicked' away. As many of you know I can't name a band or song title to save my life, but I love music. I love how certain songs bring back memories while others just change the way you feel in the moment. Anyway, I found a few songs I know by name and put together a play list. Singing away I got to work. A few minutes later Matthew came in curious, probably wanting to ask me to stop singing but too polite to do so. He stood over my shoulder and just watched. At the end of a song I asked him if there were any songs he wanted to hear. Without hesitation he asked if I could play "Fall out Boy - Thanks for the Memories." I obliged, sat back and listened to my 5 yr old sing word-for-word his request. I am thinking to myself what an old soul he is. He has so many qualities that people ten times his age lack. At the end of the song I asked him why that song. He was so intense while he was singing you'd think he had 50 years of memories to pull from. I am not sure of the answer I expected, but the answer he gave was priceless. Bringing me right back to reality he said, "I like the song and they have monkeys in their video". Oh, to be young again!
